Fitness for Kids!

WildHearts holds WeeWalks events with schools around Scotland as part of its national strategy to help children lead healthier, more active lifestyles.  WeeWalks aim to compliment government schemes to tackle childhood obesity and poor diet, which have been identified as amongst the most pressing issues facing our nation.

WildHearts WeeWalks see kids of all ages toddling, walking or jogging along a one or three mile route around their local park or school, following a treasure map to discover special reward areas where they’ll collect delicious healthy snacks, themed around your 5 A Day, from the cute and colourful WeeWalks Characters, including Marco the Monkey, Bailey the Bear and Susie the Strawberry!  Our first WeeWalk of the autumn term kicks off on September 21st at Hamilton College. Check out all the action from last year's event here

As well as getting active at the event, ‘WeeWalkers’ will be encouraged to eat healthily in the run up to the WeeWalk by following an eye catching WildHearts healthy eating chart. What's more, by raising funds for WildHearts the children will give a helping hand to some of the world’s poorest people and so learn that even at a young age they can make a real difference. WildHearts microloans are typically repaid and relent three times a year, so the children will continue to help more people work their way out of poverty every year. They will become 'ethical investors' and learn how they can use their success to help others and make the world a fairer and more just place. They will also be part of the wider 'social revolution' taking place in the developing world fuelled by microfinance, and will have the opportunity to learn from the work of Nobel Peace Prize Winners such as microfinance pioneer Muhammad Yunus.

WildHearts have held WeeWalks across Scotland, from Edinburgh's Botanic Gardens to Glasgow's Kelvingrove Park, and is now working directly with schools to deliver bespoke WeeWalks at their own grounds or local park.  Click a link under 'Recent WeeWalks' above to find out more about a selection of our most recent schools WeeWalks.
